In this video I play on the Spinet:
A spinet is a string instrument belonging to the harpsichord class. It is played in the same way as a harpsichord, but is distinguished by the arrangement of the strings: they are not in line with the keys, but at an angle to them. The same also applies to the virginal, where the strings are upright; with a spinet the strings still lie in the flat surface, but the shape is striking: a spinet is usually triangular or wing-shaped. Where the regular harpsichord has several registers, the smaller spinet usually has only one.

The spinet was and is mainly used in domestic circles. It takes its name from Giovanni Spinetti, who is said to have built the first spinet in Venice in 1503.
